What I’ve learned this summer.

1) Always save some of your money for emergencies.

2) Life is short.

Rest in Peace my dear friend Rohit Rao Belman, you are truly missed.

This One’s For Momma!
My parents are both Registered Nurses, the source of my interest in the medical field. My mom has saved my father’s (deceased) lab coat from when he was working in the hospital lab almost 20-years ago. I’m reminded of him and somewhat focused, whenever I put it on.

I was rejected for a pre-doctoral studies grant (damn you NASA!!!!), but I didn’t know this was the way the funding process goes. This Summer = Do Research!

Problem: Circular samples could not be imaged using the new confocal microscope (still working on that post). Samples were too small and coverslips needed to be taped to the bottom of the stage to hold the sample (The folks in histology were not too happy about that).
Solution: Using some acrylic pieces I fashioned a sample holder that fits on top of the stage and keeps the sample from falling through.

These walls are kind of funny. First you hate ‘em, then you get used to ‘em. Enough time passes, gets so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized. Red, The Shawshank Redemption
